Description:

The run is literally a "run for the Horn", as a large part of the route lies along the coast, between the Vestrahorn mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean.
The old highway is also crossed by Almannaskarð, from where there is a unique view of the glaciers on the southern side of Vatnajökull (by going through Almannaskarð, you can also check off having "run for the Skarðið"). The terrain is varied; gravel roads, sheep tracks, boulders and beach rocks, sand and gravel.
